Do chiropractic neurologists do anything else that is different from regular chiropractors?
What is chiropractic neurology?
Just like the medical profession, chiropractic has specialties as well. Chiropractic neurology is one of those specialties.
How will chiropractic neurology help with my condition?
Research shows that the nervous system has an effect on every cell of the body. Your brain controls everything including the movement and sensation of your entire body, organ function including digestion and heart rate, hormone levels, and much much more. Chiropractic neurology may help with your condition by ensuring you have a healthy and balanced nervous system. One of the first signs that your nervous system is not working properly may be pain. It has been shown that when your nervous system stops working properly its ability to turn off pain signals is effected. This means you may feel pain more easliy than someone who has a properly functioning nervous system.
Does this mean if I don't have a serious neurological condition I should go to a regular chiropractor?
Not at all! In fact we see everyone from newborns to the elderly. Chiropractic neurology is for anyone with a nervous system.
What does board certified mean?
A governing board is made to ensure doctors are safe to be practicing on the public. For example there is a board for all chiropractors and medical doctors to ensure that they are safe before opening to the public. Since all chiropractors and medical doctors are board certified at this basic level it doesn't make sense to advertise as a board certified chiropractor or medical doctor. However, if a chiropractor or medical doctor becomes board certified for something above and beyond they will advertise this certification. For example a board certified orthopedist, medical neurologist, or chiropractic neurologist. The governing board for chiropractic neurology is the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (ACNB).
How is a chiropractic neurologists' education different than other chiropractors?
To be a chiropractic neurologist you must first be a licensed chiropractor and then you must complete or an additional 3 year post-doctoral program in chiropractic neurology. Once this has been completed licensed chiropractors can sit for the neurology board. If the board is passed they will be given board certification status.

How is chiropractic neurology different than medical neurology?
Chiropractic neurologists work on the function of your nervous system without using drugs or surgery. Similar to working a muscle out at the gym, your chiropractic neurologist will provide specific exercises to work out the weak areas of your nervous system. This differs greatly from a medical neurologist because no drugs are involved. Also because drugs effect all areas of the body and are not specific to one area prescription medication tends to be very general in its effectiveness. On the other hand a chiropractic neurologist can give very specific exercises to stimulate very specific areas in the nervous system.
How does chiropractic neurology stimulate my brain?
Your nervous system gets the majority of its stimulation from your joints and muscles. A Chiropractic adjustment is unique because it is the only form of treatment that stimulates the joints and the muscles to provide stimulation to the nervous system. However, chiropractic neurologists are the only doctors that look at the changes that the adjustment has on brain function. Research shows that a chiropractic adjustment done on the incorrect side may further an indivduals brain imbalance!
Do chiropractic neurologists do anything else that is different from other chiropractors?
Yes. Chiropractic neurologists may use many different tools to determine how your nervous system is functioning. All of the tools are available in the office so you will not be sent out for testing unless otherwise needed. Although, the tests are unique they are fast and do not cause the patient discomfort. An example of a unique test would be an in depth examination of eye movements. This examination is done because eye movements are tied very closely to brain function.
